The Portland Bridges is initially a contact program. After you have attained all upgrade seals, you may then submit the points collected. Points are retroactive.
Requirements:
1. Must hold City of Roses Basic Certificate or apply at the same
time.
2. Must include proof of paid up 10-10 dues.
3. Applicants must work 3 Portland Bridge Charters or 5 members or
work a Special Qualifier (SQ) or IQ.
4. US $2.00 plus 2 FCS; DX $4.00 US funds.
Members are issued regular points, and "contacts" points. In the beginning, contact points are used to earn the 10 bridge seals. When 300 are collected, the contact program is completed. Then, the points collected are counted toward your "on air" point value.
Basic Contact Values:
C SQ = 3, FS FC FP = 2; others = 1 contact
(C=Charter, FS=First State, FC=First Country, FP=First Province)
Bridge Seal Requires Your Point Value
| Sellwood | 25 Contacts | +5 |
| Ross Island | 50 Contacts | +5 |
| Marquam | 75 Contacts | +5 |
| Hawthorne | 100 Contacts | +5 |
| Morrison | 125 Contacts | +5 |
| Burnside | 150 Contacts | +5 |
| Steel | 175 Contacts | +5 |
| Broadway | 200 Contacts | +5 |
| Fremont | 250 Contacts | +5 |
| St Johns | 300 Contacts | +10 (IQ) Numbered Seal |
The "contact" value you are worth (Charters are worth initially 3 contacts) will not change unless you complete the WAS. Your regular "point" value will increase with each seal you attain. IQs and SQs will be given 1 point (regular point - not contact point) for each member that joins using his/her Portland Bridge number.
WAS Award: Work a member in each state. Your value will increase by 25 contacts and 45 points. A member must work a fixed station in his own state. (In states with few members, it is to your advantage to talk to your local hams into joining!) A mobile member my NOT be used in multiple states. Five wild cards (WC) are allowed. However: Deduct 5 points for each WC used. If NO wild cards are used, 50 contacts and 100 points will be awarded. WAS Seals are collectable after 1 September 1998 for + 1 point.
Points Formula: 0-5000, 1 Point per 200 collected. Over 5000, 1 Point per 500.
Bonus: Proof of paid up dues +5 points each year. Life Members + 50 points. Work the Bridge Tender each month: 10 contacts credit toward next upgrade or 10 points added to your point value.
NEW PROGRAM JULY 1999: TREASURE HUNT WORKSHEETS. Complete the assigned worksheet with no duplicate call signs for 50 point upgrade. 10 worksheets available. Only one assigned at a time.
Convention numbers are issued at major 10-10 or ham conventions like Dayton, Reno, SeaPac, etc. A member gets only one convention number and gets +10 for attending. Each convention number members collect is worth a +1 point upgrade. About 300 have been issued as of July 1999.

To help me provide you with fastest upgrade service, please indicate 10X, call sign, and Portland Bridge basic number and current point value. Please state your grand total of points worked. Your point value is figured each time with this total number just in case we do not agree on your previous points claimed or if you have made corrections to your database.
For e-mail upgrades, save your completed listings and send me only your totals. For convention and WAS seals, I need a complete list.
